Oreo, our dog, guarded our baby squirrel, Squeakers, from birds. We rehabilitated him in our laundry room and built an outside cage. Unknowingly, Squeakers had settled in with us, returning every evening. We released him after he outgrew it, knowing he was always nearby.
Every morning when I would go downstairs, my mother would be preparing banana pancakes. My preferred! But I would quickly hear, "These are for Squeakers!" when I would beg to eat one. Squeakers would be scaling the screen every time I went to the window and opened the curtain. I would open the window, and he would enter to have his food. When our pet squirrel came jumping down the top of the yard fence and jumped on our shoulders, it was the finest part of keeping him as a pet. The expressions on our visitors' faces were priceless in response!
These have been wonderful experiences for our family. It has reaffirmed our belief that doing what's best for animals is our ultimate goal.
It was Chaz's truly wonderful heart that won me over when I first met him (in typical Oklahoma way, might I add – we met on the T!). He doesn't quite have the same repertory with animals as I do, but he undoubtedly shares my affection for them. He is always willing to assist with tasks like the never-ending blanket laundry, cleaning litter boxes, giving meds and feedings, and, of course, playing and snuggling with our adorable furry friends. I frequently make the joke that he married me for the cats, but there's probably some truth to it. He is my right-hand man and a terrific sounding board for my ideas and musings.
We have a fantastic support staff here at Ragdoll Olympus Cattery that goes much beyond the people you can currently see! Our immediate family enjoys coming to visit because they may cuddle with our pets. William, my nephew, is a non-verbal autistic six-year-old daredevil. He simply likes our cats, and despite his reluctance to play or cuddle with them, he enjoys seeing them interact with one another and jump and run about. Samuel, my second nephew, is a three-year-old troublemaker who adores cats more than anything else. Nothing brings him more joy than to see one of them, particularly Monroe! He'll sing her songs while holding her in his arms for what seems like hours. He seems more eager to see them than he does to see us, I promise! He replied, "Cake, and a call with the kitties!" when I asked him what he wanted for his third birthday. Your new kitten will be thoroughly socialized by the time they go home thanks to all of our well-organized chaos!
Our amiable team, under the direction of Chaz and Susan, sets a goal (and successfully accomplishes it): to acquire high-breed ragdoll kittens of professional breeding, not only beautiful in appearance but also with a balanced psyche and excellent health.
